Go see David, Juliet, Mark and the Team for European wine, Cheeses, small-goods or / and a coffee with great food. It's situated on 61 Mandeville Street in Christchurch. Check out their Web Page for more information.
How could I not link my fellow food lovers to the one and only Swiss Cafe in Christchurch!!!! Bratwurst with Roesti, Fondue, Wurst & Kaese Salat, wonderful Pasta..... I go there all the time; my parents nad I went the other week and asked Georgio in advance if he could cook us a nice Spaghetti Bolognese.... MHHHHHHHHMMMMMMMM!!! Wanna know more? Go there, check the menu, and have a sit down Lunch, just as we do it in Switzerland.
Please do not expect us Swiss to make Muffins and Scones for you.
Went there on a Thursday for dinner.... MMMHHHHHHHHHHHHMMMMMM Great food and great ambience - energetic place with friendly staff which like what they do. Go and try it! I can't give more of a compliment than the words: MMMHHHMMMM
Since February 2010 I do have a selection of Vins des Chevalies from Switzerland. The vineyard has won several national and international awards for their wines.
The vineyard was started by the family Mathier-Kuechler in 1930 and were the first to sell their wine under the AOC (appellation d'origine controlee) "Salgesch".
In 2004the Family Gerhard Constantin-Barmaz took over the vinyard and with respect and passion renovatet and modernised. Click on the address and check it out.
You have read most possibly on page 1 what I think about their wine, I am a bit of an ambassador for their wine, love it. So go and click - check out where they are and go try some wine with Henni & Celia, they rock!!!!
Places I enjoy....
For great Italian food and specialty shopping, I visit the Mediterranean Food Company on 332 Tuam Street in Christchurch. They are pretty busy so it may be good to book your table for Lunch. Great Pizza's and Pasta's. They have an extended range of products, from Prosciuttos', Salamis', dried pasta etc right to your Italian whites, reds and sparkling wines--- Prosecco!!! No more said.....
At Decant, you can have a quick bite to eat with a coffee or freshly pressed juice while on your lunch break. And just because life is too short to worry.....have a sweet!!!
Saint Germain is another French in Christchurch on Worcester Street.
Went there with my parents and my sister; after having a rather very bad experience at another restaurant last year they were a bit unsure. However, we all loved it and had a really lovely and jolie evening with a good bottle of Fleuri and food that was a great example of cuisine francais. Though I do have to speak for the Fois Gras: She really want's to be the star on the plate!!! So a bit less sweetness on that Hors d'oeuvre and it's perfect just like the rest of the meal.
